Introducing the Your Parenting Mojo podcast

Things have been a little quiet around here for a few weeks, because I’ve been pretty busy working on some other projects.  It was actually going through the process of writing the epic post on symbolic representation that made me realize how much fun I had digging into the research on that topic and also realized how much information is available in the scientific literature that could be valuable to parents if it ever saw the light of day.  But there was still so much I didn’t know, so to put a framework around it all I decided to go back to school and get a Masters degree in Psychology with a focus on Child Development.  I’m a couple of classes in and absolutely loving it.  And secondly, to help parents benefit from all the information I’m reading without having to do the reading themselves I just launched a new podcast called Your Parenting Mojo.

The podcast is now live with the first three episodes, and I plan to release a new one every Monday.  I’ll examine an issue that’s applicable to the parents of toddlers and preschoolers in the light of the scientific information available on the topic and will use that information to make some targeted recommendations on how to support your child’s development – and maybe even make life a bit easier on you.

If you’re interested in listening, head on over to iTunes and search for Your Parenting Mojo.  If you like what you hear then I’d be so grateful if you would subscribe, rate, and review the show – the subscription will generate an alert in your iTunes when I post new episodes and the rating and review will help other folks to find it in iTunes.

Each episode will be rigorously researched and referenced, and you’ll be able to find a list of the references under the episode title on my new website at YourParentingMojo.com in case you want to learn more about a particular topic.  And if you’re a parent of a toddler and are struggling with something in particular right now, do drop me a line at jen@yourparentingmojo.com – if it’s a topic on which there is research available, I’ll consider recording an episode for you.

I’ll probably continue to update this blog on a more intermittent basis, with more of a focus on the Hiking and Making Stuff, while most of the Parenting philosophy will be covered on the podcast.

The picture at the top of this post has to be a specific size and there was no way I could capture the size of my reading list in it so I had to crop – the full picture is below.  As I said, it’s been a busy few weeks – I’ve now read most of the ones in this pile and have moved on to the next one, and this doesn’t even count the journal articles that I read online!
